Democrats Cut Loose America's Ghettos after Failed Social Engineering Effort.
Then try to blame Republicans!
"Reid told Paulson he would not pull any of his colleagues out of the meeting. A Reid spokesman, Jim Manley, said: "If the secretary doesn't like it, that's just too bad, because he is going to need the help of each and every one of them to sell the president's plan to the Democratic caucus and the American people.""
Say WHAT?
We need the Democrats to sell us on a bailout of their own failed program like we need a hole in our head.
Dismantle or bring transparency to Fannie & Freddie.
Do not put the Treasury Secretary in a position to compete in the private sector to maintain the FRE FNM stock price.
The Democrats are thinking this:
Perhaps the only advantage the government might have in holding bad mortgages in the private sector arena is very weak. The federal government MIGHT (but won't) seize and liquidate failed properties in a manner slightly more expeditious than private banks but every bit as unpopular publicly. The reason they don't value these securities is because the publicity of un-bundling the mortgage back into a single mortgage so you can foreclose, is undesirable for whatever group is associated with it. Up to now, only the Democrats are associated with it. Support the bailout, and Republicans too are associated with it. Dems are running an effective PR campaign to persuade elderly people such as those overheard recently at Old Country Buffet in the Highland neighborhood of St. Paul MN, that Republican greed is accountable for Wall St. troubles and specifically, Fannie and Freddie. This cannot stand.
Reid, Frank Pelosi and the other jackasses who support this bailout are THIEVES.

DISMANTLE FANNIE MAE!
DISMANTLE FREDDIE MAC!
LIQUIDATE the failing firms fast to protect the FDIC or Treasury Secretary from the moral hazard of accepting the role of a private sector or GSE CEO.
Secretary Paulson DOUBLED Fannie and Freddie's stock price just like a CEO, in just 16 days (Sept 8 - 24).
Paulson is using bureaucratic power to request $700B from congress http://deltondigest.blogspot.com/2008/09/fannie-mae-freddie-mac-refute-your.html.
We should Continue to seize failing banks, extract subprime mortgages, and transfer them, by the power of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, to carefully selected small mortgage firms not involved in subprimes, along with adequate compensation.
Then we liquidate the failed bank, reimbursing depositors up to $100k and large depositors and creditors under normal bankruptcy procedure.
Under no circumstances should Freddie or Fannie or ANY failed bank, once targeted for seizure by the government, be allowed to continue to do business.
Punish the Democrats, and their CEO cronies.
Did you see this?

UPDATE
Ask a Democrat - why are they foresaking America's poor? Why don't they want to manage poor people's risk anymore? The answer is precisely because it is now for the first time unprofitable for investment bankers to manage that risk!
Fire Hank Paulson!
Dismantle the failed Democratic formerly righteous "Holy Grails" Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae!
And never again support Freddie & Fannie's self-serving GSE half-public sector half private sector corporate mission statements (see previous post).
UPDATE #2:

It's all well and good to research and consult. But partisans like Ms. Cooper are already blaming Republicans and it's just not the case.
This crisis is 96% the Democrats' fault, 3% bureaucracy, and maybe 1% Republican, because of a few campaign contributions and Hank Paulson.
After Republicans approve a bailout the ratio will change and this syndrome will only deepen.
House Republicans should hold firm.
http://deltondigest.blogspot.com/2008/09/democrats-cut-loose-americas-ghettos.html
You see a specific chart in the video on the crisis where the profitability of holding subprimes has recently fallen and only at that point do Democrats realize what their foolish choices and notions have wrought (Democrats' resistance to transparency at Fannie & Freddie being just the most recent example).
Blocks of vacant houses and abandoned cul-de-sacs in Minnesota will represent to every American the broken promise of Freddie and Fannie's mission statements and Democrats' fickle loyalty to the poor whose risk they now suddenly refuse to manage because there's no money in it because they may not get their expected bailout.
Disgusting.
